Rum is a well known distilled alcoholic beverage that is made from sugarcane by-products like molasses and sugarcane juice. A whole process of fermentation and distillation is carried to make rum. Once, distillation is over, a clear liquid is taken out and then aged in oak barrels.

Caribbean and other Central American and South American countries like Jamaica, Trinidad, Tobago, Venezuela, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Belize, Guayana, Cuba and Colombia are famous for run production. On the other hand, Mexico, Philippines, Mauriius, India, Australia, Fiji and Reunion Island are some other rum producers of the world.

Rum is the favorite beverage of many people, such as West Indians. Cocktail parties are usually incomplete without rum drinks and they usually serve light rums there. Then, there is dark rum and golden rum that is good for direct drinking and cooking. Apart from these, there is a premium rum that can also be consumed directly with ice.

Rum is popular in Spanish speaking islands like Puero Rico, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and Colombia. It is also popular in French speaking islands like Haiti, Guadeloupe and Martinique. Needless to say that it is also drunk in English speaking islands like Bermuda, Trinidad, Belize, Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica.

Apart from its scenic beauty, Indonesia is famous for producing Bintang Beer. Also known as, Bir Bintang, meaning Star Beer, this beer is one of the best selling beer brands of Indonesia. This beer has a hop and malt flavour that is not found in any other beer. With its watery taste, Bintang Beer is often compared to the exotic Heineken.

Many people call Bintang Beer, as the beer of Bali. If you are relishing seafood then drinking Bintang Beer along would be like a double treat. Served in almost all the restaurants and pubs of Indonesia, this beer is also found easily in all the countries. The best places to check this beer out are supermarkets, convenience stores, pubs and Circle K’s.

It was in 1992, when Bintang Beer was introduced for the first time in the market, when Indonesia was under the Dutch rule. At that time, it was brewed in Surabaya, the second largest city of Indonesia. At present, the same brewery is known as the Multi Bintang Indonesia.

As far as the price of Bintang Beer is considered, a small bottle costs somewhere around 6,000rp at Circle K and a large bottle costs around 12,000rp.
