Brandy comes in different types of varieties like Grape Brandy that is distilled from fermented grape juice or crushed but not from pressed grape pulp and skin. This brandy is aged in wooden casks that brings color in it and also some aromas and flavors. Then, there is Pomace Brandy, also known as the Italian Grappa and French Marc Brandy. This type of brandy is made from pressed grape pulp, skins and stems.

Bearing a sweet snifter taste, sherry drink is also made of grapes with fairly acidic taste. For making sherry, grape juice is fermented and left to mature in large vats.

Certain special sherry drinks like Amontillado and Manzanilla are made of a special yeast called flor that is allowed to grow on the surface, and it prevents the liquid from reacting with the air. Other sherry drinks like, Oloroso is produced with exposure to air. In short, different sherry drinks are made in different ways.
