All About Spirit Drinks

Alcoholic drinks come in different varieties ranging from beer and wines to spirits. Out of these three types, spirits are drinks that are actually unsweetened and distilled. Read on to learn all about the spirit drinks, how they are made, their history and types.

First of all, let’s talk about the making of spirits. Well, this beverage is made by distillation process of an already fermented product that results in the formation of a different kind of alcohol. Usually, the alcohol content in spirits is 20% and above.

Referred to as a hard drink, spirit are hard to digest if the person drinking it doesn’t drink it with care. The effect of this beverage can be reduced by diluting it with soda, aerated drinks, bottled water and energy drinks.

Most popular types of spirits drunken all around the world are whiskey, brandy, gin, rum, liquers and tequila. All these spirits contain different percentage of alcohol in them and they taste too differently from each other.

It is believed that spirit drink was first introduced in 1930s in Spain. Another interesting thing to know about spirit is that when it is added to wines, it creates fortified wines like sherry and port.
